PlanetWaves Next World Stories 2009 Review

Annual Edition of Eric Francis' Online Horoscopes and Newsletter

Jan 20, 2009 Victoria Anisman-Reiner

PlanetWaves, the innovative site for astrology, news, politics, sex and spirituality, publishes Next World Stories, a detailed and insightful forecast for the year 2009.

Published by PlanetWaves -- the innovative, outspoken site for astrology, spirituality, sexuality, culture and politics -- the annual horoscope project Next World Stories is a massive piece of collaborative work that talks about what it means to be human in these chaotic, challenging, changing times.

"The idea of this website… is a place to envision the future," says Eric Francis, creator of Next World Stories, on the introduction to the site, "…not an easy thing to do." Next World Stories 2009 is this and more -- certainly not your average year-ahead astrology forecast.

The 11th Annual Edition of PlanetWaves

Next World Stories is the 11th annual edition of what began as a small astrology site and has since grown to include dozens of writers and materials on everything from geopolitics to sexuality to art.

As a result, Next World Stories 2009 is a powerful, multi-disciplinary resource that "uses astrology as a visioning tool to help you create your reality." The horoscopes, of course, are the linchpin of the whole thing, written by journalist-astrologer Eric Francis with his trademark wit, sensitivity and visionary insight.

The site is continually evolving as new material is added in the form of monthly horoscopes by Francis as well as contributions by other PlanetWaves writers to other pages of the site, all of which is accessed with a subscriber password.

Astrology of the Minor Planets

More than most mainstream astrologers, Francis draws heavily on the the minor planets. In terms of what is coming up in 2009, he writes about the significance of Chiron, Eris, Nessus and Pholus in the more recognizable "big picture" of the larger planets and the twelve houses.

Next World Stories 2009 Contents

In addition to the "Next World Astrology" horoscope pages, the 2009 edition includes an almost overwhelming amount of information:

  • "Next World Planets," a weekly discussion of various minor planets and asteroids;
  • "This World's Stories," thoughtful contributions by readers addressing spiritual themes in the modern world, American and world politics, and the archetypes that are coming in play in 2009;
  • "Next World Stories," a science fiction page containing news reports, media reviews and blogs of imagined future worlds; and
  • An "Astrology Resources Area" of charts for the solstices, equinoxes, eclipses and other major events of the upcoming year.

The navigation of the site is not always obvious, but those who get lost trying to find a particular page are sure to land on something new and fascinating.

Into the Next World

Reading Next World Stories is like being immersed in a world where things make sense; where every life has meaning that can be found by making honest choices and being who you really are.

Next World Stories does not shy away from addressing challenging topics like sex, intimacy, feelings and the nature of being human. It's apparent from the horoscopes alone that Francis is an astrologer who believes in the infinite potential of the human soul and the ability to grow through challenges.

This is neither "fluff" nor "gloom-and-doom" astrology; it's a real conversation about what it is to be human and where to go next.
